H.G. Madhusevita Dasa

Madhusevita Dasa joined ISKCON in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 1973 and was initiated by Śrīla Prabhupāda in 1974. From the very beginning, he has made a steady and dedicated contribution to the Society. His early years of service were marked by the austerities and challenges faced by ISKCON devotees during the 1970s.

From 1974 to 1977, Madhusevita Dasa served as Temple Commander in Māyāpur, and from 1977 to 1981, as Vice President of the Kolkata temple. The temples of Māyāpur and Kolkata today offer little indication of the austerities and hardships endured by devotees serving there during those early years of ISKCON.

In 1982, Madhusevita Dasa returned to his native Italy, where he has served as Temple President of Villaggio Hare Krishna. He has been supported throughout this service by his wife, Ali Krishna, a longtime BBT translator, and their son, Nitai Prasad, a graduate of Bocconi University and a practicing devotee.

Madhusevita Dasa became a member of the GBC in 1992 and subsequently took up zonal responsibilities in parts of Italy, Malta, and the Benelux region. He currently shares GBC responsibilities for Benelux and Paris with Hrdaya Caitanya Dasa.

He has served twice as GBC Chairman, first in 1997–1998 and again in 2010–2011. In this capacity, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of the GBC, particularly in strengthening relationships among GBC members and the broader ISKCON community, as well as in supporting thoughtful reforms aimed at strengthening and organizing ISKCON leadership.

In addition to managing the temple at Villaggio Hare Krishna, serving as a GBC representative, and caring for his family, Madhusevita Dasa has maintained a longstanding association with the Southern European BBT, serving as a BBT Trustee since 1991.

Alongside his many responsibilities, Madhusevita Dasa is also an occasional musician, playing guitar and singing, as well as a passionate chef. His specialty is lasagna, prepared according to an authentic recipe passed down through generations. He is well known for his exceptional hospitality, warmth, and generosity toward his guests.
